After installing or migrating the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) to version 14.2 Maintenance Patch 1 (14.2 MP1), the user interface stops responding.

You may see a warning dialog box that is partially visible on the screen; however, you are unable to interact with the SEPM user interface.

You will see a non-responsive user interface with a warning dialog box partially visible on the screen:

The scm-ui-(numbers).err log for the SEPM will contain the following error text (with differing timestamp information):

Microsoft Windows Server 2008

The version of Java included with Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.2 Maintenance Patch 1 (SEP 14.2 MP1) (and later releases) does not support the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 operating system.

Symantec no longer supports installing Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 as of Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.2 Maintainence Patch 1 (SEP 14.2 MP1). You must upgrade your operating system to Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (or newer) for continued operation of the SEPM.
