Inventory Pack for Servers Plug-in install shows success, but the Plug-in does not get installed
Last Updated December 13, 2018
Inventory Pack for Servers Plug-in install policy shows successful execution on target clients, however the Plug-in does not get installed properly.
This is caused by the previous version leaving behind registry keys causing the installer to think it is already installed. This causes the installer to run a "Repair" or reconfiguration or the install, which does not properly install the plug-in.
Go into regedit
Browse to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products
Do a search under this key for "Inventory".
Locate the key for the Inventory Pack for Servers Plug-in. Once found delete the key.
For scripting the deletion of this, here is an example (the numbered key may be different as each version of the Plug-in has a different hexidecimal value): reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\A64BFC04031DE2347BD701E036C9AB20 if %errorlevel% EQU 0 ( reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\A64BFC04031DE2347BD701E036C9AB20 /f )
