When attempting to install or upgrade Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud (SEP Cloud), the installation process may fail if the installer detects specific competitive security applications installed to the system.
In agent versions up to 22.16.2, the installation was be blocked due various versions of the following applications:
Symantec Development removed hardblocks for the following applications in the following builds of the SEP Cloud agent for Windows:
Update for 22.17.2 and later:
Due to additional compatibility issues discovered by Symantec Development, hard blocks for various Sophos applications were re-added starting with the 22.17.2 build of the agent.
If this issue persists: Remove any competitive security applications listed that may be installed in the system using the application's uninstaller, then attempt to reinstall the SEP Cloud agent.
For Customers Migrating from SEP SBE to SEP Cloud: If a competitive installation block occurs during the migration from SEP SBE to SEP Cloud, the migration will be retried on a periodic basis in the case of failure. Thus it should be sufficient simply to remove the competitive application and wait for the next automatic retry of the migration.
