Issue/Introduction
In the Symantec Management Console, you go to the Home>First Time Setup and in the right panel click on "Import Microsoft Active Directory" (red arrow below) and see the following pop up.
"An error occurred while retrieving import rules from the Directory web service. Web service error."

Resolution
In Internet Explorer go to Internet Options (Small gear icon in the upper-left portion of the browser.). Click on the "Security" tab and then click on the "Local Internet" icon as shown below.
Now click on the "Sites" button and on the next box click on the "Advanced" button. You will see the following.
Enter a valid URL to your Notification Server in the box labeled "Add the web site to the zone:" and click "Add".
Click "Close" and then "OK" and then "OK" again.
You may need to refresh the page or restart Internet Explorer.
