Endpoint Protection 14.2 clients use a proxy configured in Windows system variables.
Last Updated February 19, 2019
After an installation or upgrade to Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.2 you notice that clients are using the proxy settings configured in System variables when connecting to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM).
This occurs on computers where system variables for http_proxy or https_proxy have been set.
You can verify this by either running the SET command from a command prompt, or by looking at the Computer's Advanced System Settings > System Properties> Environment Variables settings.
Note: This type of proxy will not show when you run the command: netsh winhttp show
This is by design. If the client needs to bypass the proxy when communicating with the SEPM an additional environment variable called no_proxy can be configured. The value should be set to the IP or host name of the SEPM. Configure a comma-separated list for multiple SEPMs
