When there are multiple ProxySG appliances in a network, a Console realm name can be configured to identify the appliance that is being accessed. When logging in to the Management Console using a browser, the browser’s pop·up dialog displays. This dialog identifies the ProxySG appliance that is requesting the username and password. If configured, the realm name displays on the pop·up dialog. The default realm name is usually the IP address of the ProxySG appliance; however, the display string can be changed to reflect the description of the appliance.
Another scenario where this feature may also be useful is when a vulnerability scanner (such as Tenable Nessus) finds HTTP Header Internal IP Disclosure where the Console realm name corresponds to the 'WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm' value in the HTTP Header proxy may send in response to a GET request.
This article describes how to change the ProxySG appliance realm name.
