Error: The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding

The Helpdesk AutoUpdate process is not adding new users into Helpdesk. The message displayed in the a.log file is:
Alert Manager AutoUpdate failed with this message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
There is no resolution or workaround at this time. Symantec is working towards a resolution and will update this article when a resolution is reached. Subscribe to this article if you would like to receive any updates.
A reboot of the server seems to have resolved the issue in one case.
