For customers going through the upgrade, that we will now reserve a SEP Cloud license for MAC devices for customers who have a mixed environment
A mixed environment when Small Business edition is enrolled on Windows and Mac devices
Originally we reserved enough licenses to match number of devices that were eligible for auto-upgrade (windows desktops, laptops and servers). If customers enrolled other devices such as Macs or mobile devices they may run out of license seats before all Windows devices can be upgraded. We now include Mac devices to avoid running out of license seats. If partner runs out of license seats before all their devices are upgraded, they should contact their CSP for additional licenses. Customers should contact their MSP partner.
For Customers that have not upgraded yet: When they initiate the upgrade, we will reserve a SEP Cloud license for those MAC Devices. When the upgrade is completed, the customer can manually enroll the MAC devices so they can be managed in SEP Cloud. This way, Partner and/or Customer is able to manage MAC devices without going into an overage situation.
For Customers that have already upgraded prior to the release of this feature: Prior to the release of this feature, we did not reserve a SEP Cloud license for the MAC device. This means that the partner or customer will need to purchase the relevant number of SEP Cloud licenses to account for the number of MAC devices, and manually enroll them into SEP Cloud so that they MAC devices can be managed.
