When will the Windows version of Symantec Protection Engine be release?
A new version of Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) for NAS and Cloud Services has been released on May 20th 2019. This is a LINUX only release. Windows update is expected to be rolled out in a quarter from this release.
As may be self-explanatory, Symantec products depend on a centralized intelligence team to get core capabilities. That team is working in phases and hence, LINUX was rolled out first since the value add of large file support was extremely important to be delivered to awaiting customers at the earliest. As soon as SPE product team gets a go ahead from the central intelligence team, we plan to roll out the Windows update too.
Highlights of current release SPE 8.1 for LINUX include
Highlights of SPE for CS and NAS 8.1:
Support for scanning very large files of any type
Scanning limit increased beyond 2GB for leaf node file
Higher efficacy of non-PE files
Enhanced Efficacy (AML, x86 PE Emulator, non PE/Scripts, etc.)
Enhanced in-memory file system to optimize file scans in memory
New Platform Certification (64bit):
Integrated Latest Components
Multiple CRT defect fixes and hotfixes included
