Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response 4.1 and later provides an updated Log Collector for SEPM embedded database utility. The configuration screen allows for a hostname to be provided.

The field labeled hostname in fact needs a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), example: "sepm.corp.mycompany.com"

To resolve this issue, re-launch the logcollectorconfig.jar configuration utility located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Log Collector\ and either provide an FQDN or leave the field blank and configure the connection using the IP address.
