If it is suspected that a client machine is connecting to the Notification Server (NS) instead of a Site Server, the Resource Monitor can be used as a troubleshooting step to reveal whether or not, that is the case.
To view the current connections to the NS:
Open Resource Monitor
Click The Network Tab and go to Network Activity
Look for the hostname or IP address of the client machine in the Address column. If it is not found then the client machine is currently not connected to the NS
