Endpoint Threat Defense for Active Directory

Issue/Introduction

While installing Symantec Endpoint Threat Defense for Active Directory (TDAD), during installation of software dependencies, an Installation Problem is reported on TOMCATCONF. Pressing Ignore multiple times leads to a different error with the installation of APACHE.

SETDAD_install.log:
[ERROR]:07/15/2019 21:39:40 Install of TOMCATCONF failed with exitcode 1

Cause

The issue occurs when removing a previous version of TDAD Core server does not remove the Tomcat service completely.

Resolution

  1. Kill the process (setdadcoreaw.exe) in the task manager
  2. Locate and delete the tomcat folder from the prior install
  3. Ensure the prior installation is removed from Programs and Features
  4. Restart the install
