To resolve this issue, check the following value in the Windows registry, where <ServiceName> is the name of the service: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<ServiceName>\ImagePath
Altiris Services that could be affected are 'AexSvc', 'AeXNSRcvSvc', 'AeXNSClient', and 'AltirisClientMsgDispatcher'.
Check the path to the executable, you will be able to see to what directory the service is pointing. For example:
Altiris Agent points to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\AeXNSAgent.exe Altiris Client Message Dispatcher points to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\aexsvc.exe Altiris NS Receiver points to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\AeXNSRcvSvc.exe Altiris Service points to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\aexsvc.exe
Note: Make sure that you know which drive the actual executables are located. The chances are that these executables can be on other drives rather than the C drive.
If the path for the actual service file is correct, try the following: The ImagePath value contains the path of the executable file for the service. To add quotation marks around the ImagePath value for a service:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate, and then click the following registry entry, where <ServiceName> is the name of the service:
For example, if the service is named AexSvc, locate the HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AexSvc key.
In the right pane, double-click ImagePath.
In the Value data box, add quotation marks around the complete path of the executable file for the service. For example, if the path of the MyService service is C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\AeXSvc.exe, change the entry in the Value data box for the MyService service to the following C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\AeXSvc.exe
Click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.
Restart the affected Altiris Service.
