Retiring a computer doesn't immediately reclaim the license for Inventory Solution 7.0
Last Updated March 06, 2009
When retiring a computer, the Inventory Solution 7.0 license is not immediately reclaimed.
In order to scale better than Notification Server 6.0 the Symantec Management Platform now defers processing over a period of time.
This issue will be fixed in a subsequent release of Inventory Solution 7.0 beyond the original release (GA).
Please note that normally time will allow the license to be reclaimed as per the current process.
If your situation dictates that you need to reclaim any licenses immediately after retiring systems, this can be accomplished in the following scenarios:
Service Restart - In some cases all you need to do in restart the NS.Internal Licensing Refresh Item found under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks. If this doesn't work, please follow these steps:
Restart the Altiris Service.
Browse to Scheduled Tasks under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks.
Run the schedule: NS.Internal Licensing Refresh Item by right-clicking and choosing 'Run'.
Rerun the NS.Internal Licensing Refresh Item schedule. In our tests it usually had to be restarted twice.
The license should now be reclaimed.
