KNOWN ISSUE: Inventory Solution 7.x doesn't properly detect Anti-virus software
Last Updated July 17, 2014
After the Software Inventory scan is performed, the information for known anti-virus applications, stored in the "Antivirus" dataclass, is either missing or incomplete.
Inventory Solution uses certain detection rules to determine whether anti-virus software is installed on a computer. Different programs or versions of programs may store their information in places where software inventory does not check.
1. Install Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component. This product doesn't require a license.
2. Modify the Collect Full Inventory Policy & Delta Inventory Policies to exclude collecting the Antivirus data class found in the Advanced options under Inventory Data classes\Software\Common.
3. Schedule the Antivirus Inventory task that comes with Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component to run as often as necessary to gather the anti-virus information.
Go to Home>Symantec Endpoint Protection Management.
Under "Quick Start" click on Run Antivirus Inventory.
Click either Quick Run or New Schedule and target the appropriate computers or filters.
4. Once the Inventory has completed navigate to Reports>All Reports>Symantec Endpoint Protection Management>Antivirus Version Summary. You can select the Group by drop down list and select Antivirus Name to display the results in a more ordered manner.
