Technical Information Generally, in the case of Symantec Scan Engine the installation needs to be done with an account like Domain Admin, having Local Admin rights and being a member of Backup Operators.

In the Registry editor, navigate to the following location:
Under the Installer key, create a String Value with the name “Logging
Doubleclick the value to edit and type in the following:
Launch the installation.
This will create an installation log file that starts with the letters MSI and can be found in the Temp folder of the account with which you execute the installation (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp)
